Culture and Identity Through Art, Creative Exposure Through Education
Greentree Elementary was looking to have artwork that reflected the diversity of their student body while reinforcing a strong sense of identity across campus. The goal was to design something that felt welcoming and inclusive to all students, while also reflecting the diversity of the campus. The designer of the piece, Derrik, developed a concept that incorporated multiple languages of “welcome,” along with cultural symbols representing the different ethnicities across the campus - creating a piece that brings a sense of both representation and connection to the space.

Alongside the vinyl installation, we hosted a school-wide assembly introducing students to the fundamentals of art and what it means to be a working, successful artist. We walked through the importance of how art communicates ideas, influences emotion, and solves problems.
Students gained a deeper understanding of how art can connect people and create opportunities for their future. The space now serves as a visual reflection of the school’s culture across campus.
