HIGH DESERT SCHOOL

the artist
Our Founder, Derrik Diza, hopped on this project as it required special insights and materials to paint on corrugated metal!
Revamping Aged Metal Walls
The staff at High Desert School in Acton Agua-Dulce was looking to get rid of some of their previous murals that felt outdated. The Principal also wanted to create a sense of ownership over the new artwork, so we developed student surveys to help guide art direction.
The subject matter of the two murals we painted included the school mascot, most popular sports at the school, and instruments the students enjoyed.
Painting on metal was is never an easy task. With several divots and corrugations in the metal and a special primer required, this project took a little bit of patience and some long days of work under the sun. The impact with the students and new murals were well worth the wait!
